Would you like to be profiled on Portland On Fire?
Please read all of the information on this page before submitting your profile. The participation form is at the bottom of this page.
The more complete the information you provide, the more likely it is that you will be added to the posting queue. If you have any questions about what needs to be submitted after reading this page, go look at a few profiles and it should be clear what is required.
Here is what you will need to submit:
Photo: A photo where you are the main subject (preferably, the only subject). The size should be no smaller than 100×100 pixels at 72 dpi in JPG, PNG, or GIF format (other formats will be accepted, but are not preferred). Color or black and white is fine. Please do not submit any photo larger than 5MB, as it will be rejected by the participation form.
Short Description: A short description of yourself, no more than 10 words. This description will be used as the summary of the profile in the profile index and on the home page. This might be a title, a statement or a comma-separated list of things that define you.
Bio: A bio, providing information on what you do, your background, etc in third person (e.g. “John Smith is…”). The length of your bio should be between 200 and 500 words. What do you want people to know about you? Feel free to include links.
Q&A:
The Q&A section includes five questions and their answers. Three of the questions are common to all profiles on the site, while two are unique and are determined by you (although, sometimes I will suggest alternates). All answers should be between 50 and 200 words in length. All answers should be in first person (“I am…”).
What are you up to?: This questions provide you with the opportunity to talk about what you are working on or doing, generally professional and/or interest-oriented. The focus here does not have to be about your professional life (if you have one). You can highlight your non-professional projects and pursuits. Don’t overlap with your bio too much. Feel free to include links.
What are you into?: What do you like to do? What are your passions? What about yourself and the things that excite you do you wish to share with the readers of this site? Don’t overlap with your bio too much. Feel free to include links.
What do you like most about Portland?: Share your thoughts and feelings about Portland, places you like to hang out, shop, or eat. This is where you express you favorite things about the city you live in. Feel free to include links.
Professional question: What question do you want asked about your work or main pursuit? This should be a question that helps pull out some professional background or information that adds depth to your profile. If you are not employed, or you’d rather highlight something else, this question could tie back into something mentioned above in the “What are you up to?” answer. Feel free to include links. Please make sure to include both the question and the answer.
Personal question: What question do you want asked about your life or your interests? This should be a question that helps pull out some personal background or information that adds depth to your profile. This question could tie back into something mentioned above in the “What are you into?” answer. Feel free to include links. Please make sure to include both the question and the answer.
Connect: Every profile must include opportunities for the reader to reach out and connect. This is one of the primary purposes of this site. Include your preferred connection points – blog, email, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Flickr, Twitter, etc. Please include direct URLs or email addresses to share here. You do not have to include your email address, but please provide at least a few ways for the reader to reach out, whether a blog address or something else. Please include Internet connection options, not a phone number or a postal mailing address.
Who else?: Please send along the names and contact information of five people you’d like to see profiled on Portland On Fire. I will send out an brief email to these people with an invitation to participate. Getting direct recommendations is how this site sustains itself.
If you experience any problems with the submission form below, feel free to send the text directly via email to siliconflorist@gmail.com.
